  2. Thoracoscopic lung biopsy - group and save

  3. Decortication - 2 units

  4. Thoracoscopic lung resection - 2 units

  5. Sleeve resection - 2 units

  6. Bullectomy or lung volume reduction - 2 units


Oesophageal

  1. Oesophagectomy - 4 units

  2. Fundoplication (abdominal) - group and hold

  3. Fundoplication (thoracotomy or re-do) - 2 units

  4. Hellers myotomy (abdominal) - group and hold

  5. Heller's myotomy (thoracotomy or redo) - 2 units

  6. Epiphrenic diverticulum - 2 units

  7. Celestin tube - group and hold

  8. Pharyngeal pouch - group and hold

  9. Para-oesophageal hernia repair - 2 units


Pleural

  1. Pleural biopsy (open or thoracoscopic) - group and hold

  2. Rib resection/pleural window - group and hold

  3. Decortication - 2 units

  4. Pleurectomy or bullectomy (thoracoscopic or open) - 2 units

  5. Thoracoplasty - 2 units


Chest wall

  1. Chest wall resection - 2 units

  2. Pectus repair - 2 units

  3. Thoracoscopic sympathectomy - group and save


Mediastinal

  1. Mediastinoscopy - group and save

  2. Anterior mediastinotomy - group and hold

  3. Mediastinal mass excision - 2 units

  4. Pericardial window - group and hold

  5. Pericardiectomy - 4 units

  6. Retrosternal thyroidectomy - 2 units

  7. Thymectomy - 2 units

  8. Thoracoscopic sympathectomy - group and save


Note: "Re-do" operations, or those who have bone marrow suppression due to chemotherapy, may require additional units and the bloodbank should be warned that fresh frozen plasma and platelets may be required
